P52 - Week 13: Details

I love beautiful flowers. I think we easily overlook many details in our everyday, hectic lives. Sometimes it's nice to make yourself stop and really look at objects around you and enjoy their beauty.

P52 - Week 12 - Hunger

When I saw the title of this week's challenge and thought of The Hunger Games, it made me think of my desire to read. I'm all over the board these days in what appeals to me... some of these I've read recently and some are in my "to-read" stack, that seems to always get bigger instead of smaller. I decided to play around with my new Awesome Camera app on my phone for this photo.

P52 - Week 11 - The 'Eyes' of March

There were different ways to interpret this week, but I went with the literal. I am always drawn to my daughter's amazing blue eyes. I personally have dark, dark brown eyes and always marvel at the beauty and rich color of her eyes. That and I love her toothless smile right now... I know she's not going to be little much longer.

P52- Week 10 - Be Still

At this point, I'm impressed with myself for following through with this for 10 full weeks. It doesn't sound hard taking a photo a week and it really isn't - the hard part is taking a photo that is meaningful to you each week and that goes with the theme of the week.

I love the ocean. I grew up in Ohio and always loved visiting the beach. Even though we are about half an hour away from the beach now, it is still my favorite spot. Unfortunately we don't take advantage of our close proximity and visit more often, but I still find this a great place of peace and awe. The ocean is such an amazing thing... it reminds me of how small we are in the world and how minor issues that seems so big really are.

The calm of the seashell on the beach makes me want to be still and just watch the waves all day. It reminds my to be thankful for all of the wonderful things in my life and not to take them for granted.

P52- Week 9 - A Great Leap

This photo came from a field trip I did with my local photography club to the Venice Rookery in Venice, Florida. I'd never heard of the place, which is about 30 minutes from where I live. After visiting this small little space where birds nest, I will definitely go back. There was quite a few birds of different species flying off and returning with twigs and branches that they were using to build their nests.

I'd never photographed birds in motion before, so I struggled quite a bit with blurry photos. I thought this one was fun because it looks like he just jumped straight into the air.

P52 - Week 8 - Cabin Fever

What do you do when you get cabin fever? You get out! We spent the week out West visiting friends in Park City and Lake Tahoe. Despite the cold, we spent plenty of time outside. On our final day in Tahoe we drove around the lake and I found this dock. If you had cabin fever, going and visiting this spot would certainly cure it!

P52 - Week 7 - True Love

Nothing I love more in nature than a great sunset! This was taken this week during our vacation to Lake Tahoe. A wonderful week where you couldn't ask for more - beautiful weather, unbelievable scenery, and a perfect vacation with amazing friends!

P52 - Week 6 - Drink Up!

Over time I have become more of a wine drinker, and thought this was an interesting take on the wine.

Our friends' parents have an amazing wine cellar in their home, and I was able to take a picture of these that are mounted on the wall outside the wine cellar.

P52 - Week 5 - Shadows

Yes... if you're paying attention, we skipped Week 4. It was self-portrait week, and I did the shot but really wasn't happy about it. I'm procrastinating the do-over for it. Eventually it will be posted.

I decided to have a bit of fun with this one and took my kids out in the backyard and let them act silly while I took pictures of their shadows. January grass in Florida is brown anyway, so I played with the photo a little bit to try and accentuate the shadows.

P52 - Week 3 - I Dreamed a Dream

On Martin Luther King Jr. day I took my children to a community service event hosted by our Moms Group to the Honor Sanctuary in Lakewood Ranch, Florida - right around the corner from where we live. The children helped clean up trash in the yard and learned about the appropriate way to approach a dog that you don't know as well as different things that you have to do to take care of a pet.

On our tour, we happened past this adorable Bulldog. I know he looks really sad, but he was awaiting his new family who was coming on that day to take him home to hopefully his forever home.

P52 - Week 2 - Made with Love

It's the second week, and I'm struggling... go figure. I'm good with taking photos, but having to follow a theme is a little hard for me.

I was out at the farm with my daughter where she does 4H with miniature horses. It seems like it's baby season at the farm, and once I saw this momma with her one week old baby, I knew I had found my shot.
